Description | After driving to Granite Bay and parking on a logging road, the trail (old logging road) climbs gently up past a few lakes to Newton Lake, a lovely picnic spot. The route (rough trail) then descends to Small Inlet and then along the portage path to Waiatt Bay, with views out to the Octopus Islands. |
Meeting Place | Heriot Bay store parking lot to arrange carpools. The access road is better with a high clearance vehicle. |

13 km round trip, about 4-5 hours at a leisurely pace. First half of the trail is easy, second half is moderate. |

Notes: | Bring lunch. The first part of the trail can be wet and also the parts near Small Inlet. Newton Lake is good for swimming in the Summer.This is Heart of the Park territory. |
