Each course is a standalone course. If you take all three courses (Rescue IK1, Paddle Skills IK2, Progressive Paddling Skills IK3) you can earn your Paddle Canada Introduction to Sea Kayaking Certification. Kayaks and all the gear are provided for all courses.
NOTE: IK1 (Rescue skills) at Strathcona Pool; IK2 and IK3 Paddling skills at McIvor Lake or CR Estuary

Rescue Skills (Ik1)
Increase your confidence and safety on the water by learning, or just to refresh, how to safely wet-exit your kayak, then re-enter both with and without the assistance of another paddler.
Classes take place at Strathcona Gardens Pool. Wetsuits are supplied.

Paddling Skills (Ik2)
This course teaches the basic strokes for paddling, stopping and turning your kayak, as well introduces and explains kayak options, kayak clothing, and all the gear.

Tues May 28 5:30pm-8:30pm CR Estuary $60
Progressive Paddling (Ik3)
This session builds the paddling skills by reviewing the basic strokes from IK2, and introduces edging and bracing – essential skills for finesse and safety as a paddler. Weather awareness and navigation are also introduced.
