Description Hyacinthe Ridge and Hyacinthe Point at low tide
Meeting Place 1792 Hyacinthe Bay Rd.  Fishing floats mark the driveway entrance.  Follow the driveway down the hill and on for one quarter mile over the stream and cattle guard.  Meet at the hay barn.

Hike to Newton Lake and Waiatt Bay 11 May 2013

Description After driving to Granite Bay and parking on a logging road, the trail (old logging road) climbs gently up past a few lakes to Newton Lake, a lovely picnic spot.  The route (rough trail) then descends to Small Inlet and then along the portage path to Waiatt Bay, with views out to the Octopus Islands.
Meeting Place Heriot Bay store parking lot to arrange carpools.  The access road is better with a high clearance vehicle.

13 km round trip, about 4-5 hours at a leisurely pace.  First half of the trail is easy, second half is moderate.

Notes: Bring lunch.  The first part of the trail can be wet and also the parts near Small Inlet.  Newton Lake is good for swimming in the Summer.This is Heart of the Park territory.

Notes: Only 2 vehicles can unload at beach at one time so please be on time. We will paddle South Gowlland and North Gowlland, 3 to 4 hours weather permitting.  Bring a lunch.  If pouring rain e-mail will be sent out by 8 am cancelling trip.

Gowlland Harbour Resort has kindly granted us permission to use their boat launch for this trip.  This is not a public access.
